Do you want to learn more about Gammelstad Church Town and why it is a world heritage site? Then you should join us on a guided tour of the largest and most well-preserved church town in the world!

Feel the wings of history as you wander down the narrow streets in the church town! Along the way, you will hear stories about life in the church town through the ages and learn how the church cottages are still used today. During the guided tour, you will visit a church cottage and, when possible, also the late medieval Nederluleå Church. As the church is still very active, the visit may be omitted if a church service or ceremony is taking place.

The tour takes place mainly outdoors, and we therefore recommend dressing according to the weather. Some accessibility limitations exist. During the tour, we visit an old church cottage that is not adapted to modern accessibility standards.

The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and starts at Gammelstad Visitor Center. The tour is conducted in English and is offered on selected dates and times throughout the year.

You can pre-book your place online at a discounted rate up until the day before the tour. For same-day bookings, please call +46 (0)920-45 70 10 or email gammelstad@lulea.se to ensure that places are available.

If none of the dates suit you and your group then you can send in a booking request for a private tour (suitable for larger groups), click here to read more about group bookings.
