In Gammelstad lives the Gammelstadsson mouse family – five little church mice who are our mascots. You’ll find them both in the church town and at the open-air museum Hägnan. Here’s your chance to get to know them better!
Grandma Musilda

Musilda Gammelstadsson - Warm-hearted, whimsical, and full of stories from the past.
"There’s so much fun to tell. I’ve lived a long time and know everything about Gammelstad as well."
Grandma Musilda has a heart full of stories and loves sharing them with anyone who wants to listen. She often talks about how things used to be, painting vivid pictures of life in the past. Her glasses are always going missing, and she often asks children to help her find them – a perfect excuse to chat about the place she loves most: Gammelstad.
Mom Matilda and big sister Majken

Matilda Gammelstadsson - The family’s adventure leader in any weather
“I love adventures, come what may. Through sunny skies or snow’s ballet. In Gammelstad there’s fun all year. From summer to winter, each season dear”.
Matilda loves discovering new things and believes that excitement is always just around the corner. It might be meeting one of Hägnan’s cows, sneaking in to watch the Christmas candles being dipped, or going on a walk around Gammelstad.
Majken Gammelstadsson - A fearless explorer with a vivid imagination
“My thoughts are quick, my feet are fast. Through fun and play I learn about the past”.
Majken is the big sister in the family and a real bundle of energy. Her backpack is full of treasures – tape, string, and other things needed for adventures – and she loves building forts all around the church town and at Hägnan.
Dad Manfred and little brother Musse

Manfred Gammelstadsson - An inventive dad with magical coat pockets
“A little crazy, that’s just me. Inventing things is pure joy, you see. To build something clever, something bright – that would be my dream, my heart’s delight”.
Manfred loves fixing and repairing things – he’s a true mouse-MacGyver who can solve almost anything with what he has in his pockets, like a paperclip and a rubber band. He also loves baking and enjoys experimenting in the kitchen.
Musse Gammelstadsson - A calm thinker with a curiosity for life
“To read is essential, that much I know. To write my own book someday – I hope so. I love animals and nature’s pretty art. And philosophizing – it speaks to the heart”.
Musse is calm and wise, often found with a book in one paw and a piece of cheese in the other. He loves understanding how the world works and enjoys listening to grandma Musilda’s stories.
